NAFER 2018 Conference Report

By Phelps, Kathy Bazoian*

With a seemingly endless number of things to talk about, the annual conference of the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers (NAFER) again attracted a high caliber group of professionals, judges and regulators to talk about federal equity receiverships. The Seventh Annual Conference of NAFER took place on October 18 –20, 2018 at The Drake in Chicago. For the third year in a row, the conference began with a half-day Receiver’s Training Camp which focused on litigation issues this year. The next full day of educational content contained quality presentations covering everything from sales issues, to cryptocurrency cases, to federal nonregulatory receiverships. The final day was capped with a panel discussing international issues arising in receivership cases, as well as the insightful Judges’ Panel. Our own Judge Philip Gutierrez from the Central District of California participated in both the Training Camp and the Judges’ Panel, and he actively interacted with receivers, attorneys, regulators and others throughout the conference. His contributions to the conference were noticed and appreciated by everyone.

The 2019 Annual Conference is scheduled for October17–19, 2019 in Phoenix/Scottsdale at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia. It’s a conference well worth attending. Check out www.nafer.org for more information about NAFER.
